For some people, there isn't enough time in the day. To others, it appears there's too little time in the day.

Time management and at the end of the day asking "where did the day go"? You're not alone. There are a ton of things we want to accomplish and grand plans that we have, but at times it feels like we do not have enough hours in the day.

However, it's not just a matter of having a lot of things to do. It's all about focusing on the useful and doing meaningful activities.

The following are three simple habits that can help you to be more in control of your day and more productive.

1. The first step is to begin with what's most important.

We don't feel like we are productive because we are spending too much time on trivia issues that are not really that important and not spending enough time on the more important issues.

List before getting out of bed the 3 most crucial things you have to do for the day. Do so by prioritizing and tackling them first.

Ask yourself:

If you had to do one thing to make a difference what would it be?

Pay attention to your priorities and you will have some direction for your day and some positive steps that you can take.

2. Plan ahead your day before starting it.

If you don't have a plan, it can be an easy day of distractions.

No need to enter into a complicated system. The time it takes to plan can make a tremendous difference for you. List of activities, set goals and identify when you will accomplish each goal.

In my own experience, it's critical to have a plan for the day and to get it to calm down my mind and get me focused. I don't need to consider what I should do next – I can just do it.

The simpler the plan the more clear it will be, and the more the more action.

3. Don't allow distractions to your focus

Focus

There are a lot of things to distract us in the 'digital' world! It's simple to lose half an hour gazing at your phone.

Use of concentration is being transformed into a superpower.

Attempt to make smaller boundaries for yourself. If you're at work, don't peek at work emails by the phone, silence the unimportant ones and find a time of the day when you can focus on work without interruptions.

Sometimes too many hours of distraction, can be less effective than one hour of concentration.

Final Thoughts

Time management isn't always about doing more in the day. It's really a matter of good time management.

Little behaviors over time can make a huge difference.

Do the most important things first, plan activities and eliminate distractions. It doesn't take a long time to get perfect. It's just a matter of making a little more of an effort with time every day.

We all have 24 hours in a day, after all! The distinction has to do with our usage.
